My favorite thing about Flims Laax is the fact that after you catch the cable cars to the top of Cassons you can weave your way across the interconnected mountains all day then go back to Flims without skiing the same run twice! The skiing is so enjoyable, there are endless long pistes and groomed steep trails. There's not many places you can do that! Of course the entire place is run like clockwork, on the weekends it gets busy but the fast cable cars ensure that crowds disperse quickly. We stayed in Flims and loved the variety of restaurants, we went to Canorta for 3 nights running, it was the best Italian food I've ever had! Apres ski wise I enjoyed the Crap Bar (yes great name - everything seems to be called crap this or crap that - it means top) and the Iglu Bar. I'd go back to Flims Laax any day and would recommend others to go too. My recommendation would be to stay at Flims, it's the main town center and the majority of the action happens there. Laax is pretty small and unless you had an apartment you would need to go into flims every night to eat. Falera is a really tiny quaint really old village that would be the quietest place to stay, also in my opinion the worst!

There's some good skiing at Flims - in the right conditions. It's a relatively low altitude which means that late season visits - like mine last year - will not get the best of it and runs to the valley will be extremely slushy. There are also too many T-bars. That said, the long black run off the back of the little glacier at the top of the resort is superb, and there is some good "yellow run" regulated but ungroomed terrain.

I stayed in Flims over Chrismas and New Year 2006/07 with my wife and 4 year old daughter. The snow wasn't fantasic and at least 50% of runs were closed. However, we all had a fantastic time. The ski school was fantastic with our daughter and still managed to find suitable runs to keep her occupied on her first ski trip. Whilst there was little or no off piste availble, the resort managed the pistes well and used the snow canons whenever the temperature ped sufficiently. In addition to skiing, the resort was well-geared up to other activities. There is a fab indoor skating rink, sleigh rides and all the other attractions that you would expect from a top class resort. We stayed in the Park Hotel Waldhaus and would highly recommend it. In fact, we're quite likely to stay there again and we're not usually into going back to the same place twice.

Linked up with Laax and Falera, Flims forms part of the "White Arena" skiing area which means more than two hundred kilometres of ski slopes suitable for all types of skiers. Furthermore freestylers have the exceptional benefit of two snowparks and several halfpipes available to them. Flims, which benefits from outstanding sunshine, offers a number of walking routes as well as a vast choice of activities. The resort itself comprises two areas, Flims-Waldhaus and Flims-Dorf where the ski lifts start from. It is therefore often necessary to take a bus to get around the ski resort.
