After a season in the 3 valleys I have spent my last 4 trips in the Verbier ski area, staying in Les Collons, Verbier itself, and La Tzoumaz. My verdict is that it is overrated. Flaine is an ugly resort, but if you're a keen skier this is more than made up for by the convenience of access to the slopes. The resort has plenty of blue and red runs and is best suited to intermediates. We went to Cervinia 13-20/01/08. Stayed at the Petit Palais. We had a great time, lovely snow - the best I have seen in years. The runs were well prepared and maintained, although if you are looking for black runs choose a different resort. Well worth going into Switzerland for the day. Zell is part of the Zillertal Arena ski area, which consists of the linked area of Zell, Gerlos,Konigsleiten & Gerlosplatte.
