Just got back from Val Thorens. The conditions were excellent last week, with a thick layer of fresh snow and clear blue skies. I have to say it was very very crowded. Waiting time for the central gondola was more than 20 minutes! We stayed at Pierre en Vacances, right along the slopes. From the balcony we had a magnificent view over the mountains and slopes. The ...

A perfect resort, with a good mix of slopes for mainly beginners, and intermediates. The three ski areas of i)Kitzsteinhorn with the glacier skiing above Kaprun, ii) The Maisikogel where you can ski down into the centre of Kaprun, iii) The Schmittenhohe above Zell am See with fantastic views over the lake at Zell am See and beyond. There is further skiing in Saalbach ...

We fell in love with the place; great snow, friendly people and cheap prices. The prices are excellent compared to other resorts. I think Valfrejus has real potential. For value, I believe there is nowhere better in the Alpes. You will not be disappointed. If you are looking for somewhere to stay the chalet de florence is very and close to the main lift, bars and ...

Obergurgl is a lovely old fashioned traditional resort which is popular with families. Because the resort is high up conditions are mostly excellent, I think bad weather can be common and we had two days of quite heavy snow which made conditions challenging! I think the resort is best suited to people with a little experience or intermediates. I think beginners can ...

Rate La Rosiere

Although it seems like a traditional resort, most of La Rosiere has been built especially for skiing in the past few decades. The ski area is mostly made up of fast long blues and reds served by some nice fast chairlifts. The big point of interest is the cross border connection to Italy which I heard is quite often closed, usually because it gets very windy and i ...
