If you want to come down for some serious boarding, this is a very good place: no queuing, long slopes with little flatness, challenging rides and good snow, though the French don like to maintain their pistes as the Austrians do, but for off-piste, who cares anyway. Couchevel is a playground for skiers and boarders - literally hundreds of runs to try out and can ski straight down into meribel or over to val thorens for even more choice. you can spend a fortnight here and never ski the same run twice! snow was great when we first arrived but blue skies and sun all week so got quite icy. still, not bad for early season. ...

Picturesque resort, lots to do and amenities all close by, great escalator in the middle of meribel from which you can ski down to the lifts. snow and lifts excellent and great runs which chalenge but are manageable for beginners. a wonderful experience. will go back to explore further. ...
